THE PRINCE OF PREACHERS....

‘ Know that a man is not justified by the works of the law ,but by the faith of Jesus Christ..........’ Galatians 2 vs 16. Charles Haddon Spurgeon was to 19th century England what Moody    was to America then....Thus goes the biography of Spurgeon. He was known as the ‘Prince of preachers’. He never attended any bible school but was the most popular preacher in London. He preached to crowds of 10,000 at Exeter ond Surrey music Hall. Thousands gathered every Sunday to hear his lively sermon for forty years. In one such preaching ,Spurgeon shared about a dream that he had. He dreamt that he had died and had reached the pearly gate. The gates were closed when he reached it so he banged at it. Someone opened a small window of the gate and asked him what he wanted. He identified himself as Charles Spurgeon and asked to be let in. He promptly got a reply, “I do not know any Spurgeon, I only know Jesus Christ“, and the window shut.

Walking with apostle Paul.... trying to understand the mind of Christ.

I have been doing a study on the epistle of Paul the apostle to Philemon.  I did the study with Tom Wright,A prolific bible teacher.Tom Wright compares this letter with a letter by a contemporary of Paul ,a non believer which writes for the pardon of an individual but not to the extent of restitution .It gives a peek into Paul’s thought process and his beliefs after he met the Lord. We are looking at a timeline of somewhere between 57 to 59 AD. It is remarkable that a subject that is so relevant to our times has been addressed by Paul in this letter such a long time ago. To those of us who are unfamiliar with the book, Philemon is a fellow believer in Christ who lived in Colossae,a small Phrygian city approximately 100 miles from Ephesus where Paul was lodged in prison. There was the slave trade then ,as would be in the ancient world.Onesimus is a slave who has run away from Philomen’s household ,most probably after doing something wrong. Paul is writing this letter to...

Talking to my siblings...

Dearest family... Our hope and consolation is this... That God has promised that we will meet our precious dad again... God has never failed us yet... He does not lie. He has said that this life is the temporary one and a preparation for the eternal one. We celebrate a father that has loved us well and demonstrated the Eternal Father's love to us. My one prayer was that I would meet him once more when I heard he was sick. When I heard Apala had passed away I was heartbroken and I reminded the Lord that I had petitioned that I would meet him once again. This morning the Holy Spirit gently whispered to me... I answered your prayer... You will meet him once again and will never have to say goodbye. Hang on to this dear hope as you celebrate His incredible life. He is alive in the arms of His and our saviour. I hope this will be of comfort to you all at this difficult time. I just want to thank you all for doing your bit to make his last days a good one. Now we remember h...

Extraordinary times....from the diary of a doctor.

I have been back in post for about two weeks now.I was home for almost three months this time. Was on quarantine but now am back to work.It has been an unusual time to say the least.A few days after I left home torrential rains started in Mangan and landslides were rampant causing folks to evacuate homes. My uncle and aunty were with us for a few days . My father is ninety and suddenly his health took a dive.I could not really make a headway over the phone. My cousins brought in the doctors to see him but I did not  get a clear picture. What I could understand was my 84 years old mother ,my sister and my brother sitting by his bedside the whole night..He had loose stools for a day after which his lone atrial fibrillation kicked in and he seems to have gone into CCF.His basic heart seems to be perfectly fine as per the echo. His sugars which were perfectly fine are playing hide and seek. We decided to take him to Manipal and my extended family is taking care of him there with my bro...
