Proverbs 25 vs 2’ ‘It is the glory of God you conceal a thing but the honour of kings is to search out amatter.”
Bible was written by 40 authors over 1500 years. There are 66 books in the bible. The old Testament was written in Hebrew and the new Testament was written in greek.
The bible is God’s revelation to us and inspired by the Holy spirit.
Bible interprets itself and the Holy Spirit reveals the Word.
The first book of the bible starts with the creation story all of us are familiar with.
The first man and woman disobey God ,tempted by the serpent.
As the serpent tells Eve, ‘For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof then your eyes shall be opened, and you will be as gods knowing good and evil.’
Two major things happen at that time.
Adam and Eve eat the forbidden fruit which gives them the knowledge of good and evil.
They can now play God and that is the root of all the problems in the world that we continue to face.
Another very important thing happens. Genesis chapter 3 verse 24 says,’ so he drove out the man and placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way ,to keep the way of the tree of life.’
The reason he does it is mentioned in verse 22 of the same chapter.
This eternal life that man was supposed to inherit was lost when Adam and Eve disobeyed God.
Death entered our lives.
Did God forsake them?
Old Testament is the journey of God‘s people through different ups and downs of life in different situations, ever moving forward towards the promised land and the everlasting hope of the coming messiah that has been promised to them through their prophets who would bring about the restoration.
God appointed the leaders to lead them on,prophets through whom he spoke to them in the wilderness.
There were 44 prophecies pointing to the coming messiah through their prophets at different times and parts of their journey.

As one of the speakers so eloquently put it, ‘Hopes and fears of many years culminated in the birth of Lord Jesus.’
The timespan of the old Testament is over 1500 years and then there was a gap of almost 400 years before the birth of the Messiah.
As John 3vs16 says,’For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son ,that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.’
