Lockdown learning’s.....

1.I am learning to take care of the family. My mother is getting a respite because of a Bell’s palsy.ThankGod I was home or the family would have panicked .I am actually up bright and early to do the chores since we are not allowing anyone from outside to help in the kitchen.Welcome to adulthood .Now that was a revelation for me.

2.I  am the family barber and did a decent job with an electric rajor on my dad and my brother’s hair. Both of them look like professional footballers now.Not that they left me to it I functioned under a barrage of instruction.I also ended up nicking a tiny bit of my father’s nasal mucosa with the scissor.

3.I  have been noticing that I seem to have a passive left leg.I discovered this while exercising on a cycle.I reached my target for the day easily but was surprised by my left leg which preferred to let my right leg do most of the work.

4.One of the sad thing I realised was that I had left my musical instruments in the hospital when my mom reminded me that my classical guitar was lying in the star age place .I presumed it had some missing strings but was pleasantly surprised to see it all intact.Getting my fingers to do the exercise was something else.I am sure glad to touch base.

5.I tried my hand at putting up a wallpaper and realised that it is not my forte but got it through anyways.Since it is under the staircase of my room I think it will pass.

6.I discovered I have become stronger this holidays..I found myself running up a flight of stairs with an empty cylinder in one hand with such speed .I am not sure who was more surprised,my brother or I.

7.The vegetables we buy from the market don’t seem to last for more than two days...they start rotting but the homegrown ones last a long time.

8.I learnt to churn butter and cook it just right, into ghee.

9.I had preserved some mulberry in sugar water in a tight wooden jar .I was making some homemade vinegars in transparent jars. The dictum was not to touch with hand so I used wooden spoons as well.
Today, almost after a month we decide to pour it out in a glass jar,the mulberries look as fresh as the first day I put it in.Under the normal circumstances it goes bad after two days off the tree.

10.Most of the greens take around two weeks to sprout and is ready to be plated especially if it has been given adequate organic fertilisers.

11.Nitrogen throwing plants would do well with a conservative take on fertilisers ,plants gain height but hardly flower so fruit less.We are talking about soyabean here.

12.It rains almost every other night in SIkkim with sunny crystal clear days.Goodside is plants don’t need to be watered but for the ones in the hot house but the flip side is ,isn’t it too early for the rains. Most of my memory is of being in the heart of India and watching the skies for the cloud and the date June 15 and beyond for respite.

13.As the rest of India rush to get their quota of liquor,in SIkkim the rush is for meat. With the government putting a ban on poultry we are fast becoming vegetarians.None of my family members seem to mind .

15.I wake up everyday to the sight of the hills on my horizon and the majestic Mount Kanchendjonga..I never seem to get enough of it.My hometown has not surprised us with new peaks suddenly becoming visible. It was and hopefully will remain pollution free. The government has already put odd and even days for plying vehicles as lockdown relaxes.

16.I seem to be doing fine by God’s grace, stretching a lot of muscles in all dimensions I never knew existed.

Image of Christ.

There is nothing more scarier than a heart that has hardened .I was talking to Mary the other day, infact weeping with her There is a deep restlessnessness inside.Thank God for it becuase it shows that I have not resigned myself to the way things are.I was telling her I miss the deep experience of seeing the image of Christ and the compassion of the Holy spirit which just used to overwhelm  my heart when I saw the image of Christ in people ,situation and the creation. What is the image of Christ? It is a body marred and maimed to bear the sin of the world.it is a voice that did not speak in protest against God the father, who actually planned it all before the creation of the world, not against the people who maimed Him ,flogged Him,drove the nails into His hands and feet to satisfy their sinful nature. The image of Christ is a body broken  to the utmost yet given to feed the very same people .It is a love that did not count the cost. I am a person who does not put too much v...

Feet in the water.

Fifteen days of earned leave after working for two years,I was praying in a house group prayer and worship and pleading with the Lord to show me something ,when it was not forthcoming I surrendered to the Lord and prayed let your will be done and then I saw the Lord walking up a winding road and deep in my spirit I knew He was calling me to follow Him .I did not know where to but I thanked the Lord and said yes. I have been living more in the unseen world than the seen world. Suddenly out of the blue I received a message from Dr Arpit asking me to replace them in Madhipura  for a  fortnight. I needed to go because things were getting a little intense and I needed sometime to step back and mull some things over. I had no idea why the Lord was taking me back to the old world of EHA , mission hospitals and friends from the yore. Travelling to Madhipura , I  continnued to ask the Lord, 'Why this road? I had no idea why I was going  where I was going.I am glad I ca...

Thankyou Lord for the year that was.

It has been sometime since I have blogged. I don't even remember how the whole of last year passed. While sitting for the prayer meeting with the ladies I suddenly realised that the last year I had broken so many barriers. Things I had cried to the Lord in prayer had come to pass quietly but surely. It has not been without drama but it was through sheer resolve and daily consecratiom  I walked the steps I never thought I could. I learnt to drive for one and then towards the last week had the distinction of breaking the panes of the car while backing. It hit the wall. Thank-fully no one was hurt. My wonderful family just said ,'It Happens'. This year I adopted a male pig and a female pig .I sold the last year's pig for fourteen grands and five hundred.I  brought some brick to try and build an apartment but since the leading from the Lord was not to invest I invested the money in my eternal home I thank God for that. Towards the year end I got the privellage to help Kanc...
