May You reign in the throne of my heart.

These are critical times. My heart goes out to all my colleagues and friends in the frontline fighting this enormous battle against an enemy which has a multi pronged face .I hear the anxiety,I hear the fear,my own and theirs. Especially some of them who are in leadership positions leading from the front ,vulnerable as we are, wherever we are,It is a stormy water to be in . It is the time and season of our lives when God wants to meet with us beyond our posturing and religiosity. I pray the Lord will draw us beyond the cacophony of activity to that quiet place of the reality of His Word...’ come to me all of you who are weary and burdened ,and I will give you rest .Take my yoke upon you and learn from me ,for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls .For my yoke is easy and burden is light.’ Mathew 11 vs 28 -30. May we walk from that rest that only our Lord Jesus can give us to the work that he has given our hands to do in His strength alone.

Paradox.

Just this morning I received a newspaper clipping of a host of “mushair” children eating grass out of hunger with background picture    of adults sitting outside their makeshift homes ,hopelessness in their body language.By God”s grace someone has taken a picture and the newspaper clipping is gone viral and apparently the government has provided the necessary care. This community is spread throughout the heart of India.I have been to these villages and have often wondered aloud how a community can be left behind thus far after seventy years of independence. In this mayhem and confusion where everyone is trying to protect and save what is theirs ...How do these children of God fare? Sitting in the comfort of my home faraway in the Himalayas,I can ask God why? It is harder for me to stay put in the farm ,see the farming process with more care than usual. For one I realise I am not as healthy as I thought I was. Taking three flight of stairs to my room I was out of breath. My n

How is this different ?..

For health professionals has anything changed at all.... We fight the same fight we fight everyday keeping our lives on the edge. In the west it might be an unprecedented struggle where every individuals    status is closely monitored and has to be answered for.. The difference in this battle is everyone is scared and seem to be taking it as an acute clarion call but we fight the same battle everyday of our lives sans the media hype, the political will and the list goes on, Will we take a lesson from this and learn that things can be done in a better way,. It is heartening to see the ICMR taking the lead and media giving it its due exposure. Henceforth may be they should continue to draft and put in health regulations in place so that this becomes a norm. Media houses as one can see can do a lot to help spread awareness on over the counter antibiotic abuse, tuberculosis care, strenghtening public health beyond the cushy air-conditioned offices with laptops to touch bas

Some thoughts....on the Pandemic.

Every where everyone seems to be talking about the Corona virus.Sometimes I wonder how things are in the country. The rumour about the virus has been doing the rounds for sometime but we see no response from the public sector health advocates to take in the private health providers along. We on our own initiative printed out a nhs guideline and pasted it all over our hospital and alerted our community health team as well.We have sensitised our staffs to the science behind it.While the media was in an overdrive about the virus we have been extra careful with all fever with cough and respiratory symptoms. Our tamiflus are also flying out from our counter. During these times one young man who had travelled to our town from Surat, which incidentally is a port presented with a high grade fever, respiratory symptoms and breathlessness with a normal X-ray and abg. They would not hear about admission and insisted we write some medicines and let them go home.We contacted the local government he
